Collection: The champagne glasses
The History of Champagne Glasses – A Toast to Tradition
Champagne glasses are much more than just a glass: they are an icon of style, celebration and golden ages.
Their origin dates back to the 17th century, when they were created in France and quickly became the symbol of aristocratic courts. According to legend, their shape was inspired by Marie Antoinette's breasts, but historical reality suggests that they were already in use before her time.
The cups had their golden age between the end of the 19th century and the 1920s, becoming the protagonists of the sumptuous parties of Art Deco. In the following decades, they were progressively replaced by the flute, which better preserves the bubbles, but their charm remained intact.
Today, champagne glasses have once again become a cult object, loved for their elegance and their reference to an era of luxury and carefreeness.
At Radisa Gallery we celebrate this tradition by carefully selecting vintage and antique cups, for toasts with an authentic and timeless flavour.
